A Space Built to Make People Feel Good — Designed and Executed by Nail and Hammer

All salons promise you a makeover. And most of them intend it for the person sitting in the salon chair. But we intended it for the very room – that is the origin story of Sniip & Shiine Salon Interior.

When the Sniip & Shiine team approached us for their salon interior, they did not ask for merely four walls with mirrors and some good lights. What they asked for was something luxurious about the salon. It had to be such a space that a normal haircut would turn into an occasion for their clients. It had to make them leave their saloon feeling light – not only because of the new haircut but because of the way the place made them feel even as soon as they entered.

And it is this brief that we started working from. In Nail and Hammer, we do not see a brief as something to simply go by. It’s more like an ongoing dialogue all the way through design, material choices and finally, the day of the execution on site..

Understanding the Brand Before Drawing a Single Line

Before any layout was drawn, we sat down with the Sniip & Shiine team to understand who actually walks through their doors. A salon’s interior has to do more than look good in photos — it has to work for a stylist standing for eight hours, for a receptionist managing walk-ins, and for a client who simply wants to relax. So our first step was mapping the everyday flow of the salon: where people enter, where they wait, where the real work happens, and where they pay and leave.

Once that flow was clear, the design language followed naturally. We leaned into warm, earthy tones with clean architectural lines — a palette that feels premium without ever feeling cold or clinical. Soft textures, layered lighting, and a few bold accent moments were chosen to give the space personality, while keeping the day-to-day functionality of a working salon front and centre.

Designing for the Real Day: Moving Beyond Beautiful Renders

Creating a beautiful render is simple. A beautiful render that can withstand a Saturday rush of walk-in clients is what we had in mind when planning each zone of Sniip & Shiine.

The reception was meant to be the initial emotional trigger — calm, open and spacious, so that a client feels right from the first moment he enters the space. Styling stations have sufficient space around them for both the stylist and the client, and the lighting there has been thought out to highlight the client’s natural skin color instead of the usual flat lighting used in most salons.

The wash and lounge area has been designed almost as an oasis inside the salon — changing the mood from the dynamic styling floor to the calmer personal zone. Storage space, power points, washing stations plumbing and ventilation have all been taken into account during the design process, and not after the construction is finished. This is usually a point where most salons fail — beautiful on the day one, but inconvenient already by month three.

From Sketch to Site: How Our In-House Team Brings Designs to Life

This is the part we’re genuinely proud of: Sniip & Shiine wasn’t just designed by Nail and Hammer, it was executed by us, start to finish. No handing off the drawings to a third-party contractor and hoping the vision survives translation. Our own execution team carried the project from civil work and electrical planning through false ceiling, woodwork, laminate finishing, and final styling.

That kind of end-to-end ownership matters more than most clients realise until they’ve lived through a project without it. When the people who designed the space are also the people standing on site solving the small problems — a beam that wasn’t in the original plan, a plumbing line that needs rerouting, a finish that looks different under site lighting than it did in the sample — the final result stays true to the original idea. Nothing gets diluted along the way.
